University of St. John's

University of St. John's (SJU) is a private, Roman Catholic, coeducational university located in New York City, USA. This school was originally located in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in the borough of Brooklyn. Early 1950s, the school was moved to the current location to Utopia Parkway in Hillcrest, Queens. St. John also has campuses in Staten Island and Manhattan in New York City, abroad in Rome, Italy, and a graduate center in Oakdale, New York. A campus in Paris opened in the spring of 2009. The school is named after St. John the Baptist.

University of St. John's  founded in 1868, by the Vincentian Fathers of the Roman Catholic Church in response to the invitation of the first bishop of Brooklyn, John Loughlin, to provide the urban poor youth with intellectual and moral education.

St. Vincentian Values John comes from the ideals and work of St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660), who is the patron saint of Christian charity. Following the Vincentian tradition, the university strives to provide an education that encourages greater involvement in social justice, charity and service. The Vincentian Center Church and Society ("Vincenter") which is located on the campus of Queens University serves as a "clearinghouse for developers and information Vincentian, the study of poverty, social justice resources, and as an academic / cultural programming Center.

University of St. John was originally established as the College of St. John the Baptist at 75 Lewis Avenue, in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Building foundation was laid in the summer of 1868, and the building was opened for educational purposes September 5, 1871. Beginning with the law school in 1925, St. John started the founder of another school and became a university in 1933. In 1954, St. John's broke ground on a new campus in Jamaica, Queens, on the former site of Hillcrest Golf Club. The following year, the original school of the university, the University of St. John, moved from Bedford-Stuyvesant to the new campus. High School, now St. John's Prep, took over the former building and then moved to its present location in Astoria, Queens. For approximately the next two decades, other schools the university, which is located in a separate campus at 96 Schermerhorn Street in downtown Brooklyn, moved to a new campus in Queens. The last of the school to move to Queens will be moved there in 1972, bringing an end to Downtown Brooklyn campus of the university.

University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and has 13 special accreditation.

The education level of current annual $ 29,350 per academic year for students, $ 33,600 for the department of pharmacy (Pharm.D), and $ 42,200 for law school students.  In 2007, St. John was awarded $ 338 million in financial assistance through scholarships, loans, grants and work-study programs, including $ 138 million of grant-funded universities. Approximately 95% of students are students receive direct grants from the university in 2007. [citation needed] The scholar loan debt on average for 2006 graduates was $ 21,633, the amount of which is lower than the national average for graduates of private institutions. [32] [33] [34] In 2007, this increased to 28 010 (with 74% of students graduate with some sort of debt, far above the national average. Currently, the average student debt in St. John is over $ 30,692.

For the fall 2010 class enrolled 21 354 students of St John-15720 undergraduate students and 5,634 graduate students. Students come from 46 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands. 115 countries are represented. The 2009-2010 one-year retention rate is 78%, the four-year graduation rate is 38%, and six-year graduation rate is 59%. University awarded 4,225 degrees in the academic year 2009-2010.

54 871 students applied for admission to the 2010 class of students; 24 993 (45%) were received and registered 3117. For the Fall 2010 class, the average SAT (verbal and math) was 1,097 and the average high school GPA was 87%. Fifty-one percent of the bachelor's degree, master's thirty percent, seven percent is a law graduate JD, six percent of graduates who PharmDs, and eighty-nine doctorates were awarded.

University employs 659 full-time and 820 part-time faculty members. 60% of the faculty members have a doctorate or other terminal degree, 33% had a non-terminal master's degree, and the rest (8%) had. only a bachelor's degree students to faculty ratio is 17: 1 and 60% from the classes have 10-29 students in it.

In the 2013 US News and World Report rankings "National University" St. John's undergraduate program was ranked at level 1 in 147 American universities in this country.

In the 2011 edition of The Best 368 Colleges published by The Princeton Review, St. John was named a "Best Northeastern College."

In 2010 The Wall Street Journal survey of national recruiters, St. John is listed in the top 100 universities in the country "most likely to help students get a job in key careers and professions - growing area, pay well and offer a high level of satisfaction."

In 2010 PayScale survey by Bloomberg Business Week from 554 colleges and universities, high scores St. John as an incredible "return on investment" that graduates upper receiver.

In the 2013 edition of Best Colleges by Forbes magazine America, St. John was ranked number 407.

In 2008, the Faculty of Law was ranked at level 1 in 72, and the School of Education was ranked 58th scored 52 out of 100.
