Oberlin College

Oberlin College is a private liberal arts college, founded in 1883 and located in Oberlin, OH, USA. It is noteworthy because it was the first American institution of higher learning to regularly admit female and black students in white men's side. The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, part of the college, is the oldest continuously operating conservatory in the country.

Oberlin is a member of the Great Lakes Colleges Association and the Five Colleges consortium Ohio.

The first is called the Department of Theology, 1833-1966, Graduate School of Theology at Oberlin College is a nondenominational seminary. In 1965, the board of trustees as to halt undergraduate instruction in theology at Oberlin. In September 1966, six faculty members and 22 students joined the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University.

One college in the popular Oberlin College, College of Arts and Sciences, offers 47 majors and 42 minors and concentrations. In addition, one of the departments, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, is the oldest continuously operating conservatory in the United States.

The students are taught to-credit on topics of interest beyond the traditional curriculum, can join in Oberlin Experimental College (EXCO). During the winter, which usually occurs in January, the students are welcome to choose and complete projects or tasks respectively.

In addition to classroom activities on campus, students can also perform a variety of academic activities outside the university. For example, students are allowed to decorate the walls with pieces from the collection of the Museum Allen for $ 5 per job per semester. Pieces by Dali, Lichtenstein and Picasso, the list of pieces that have been provided by universities and ready for use by the students.

Oberlin College also has 21 sports teams between participating in Division III sports. According to the university, about 30% of the students who participated in a health club.

To meet students' needs for housing, Oberlin College has provided the campus dormitory. In addition, the university also adopted policies on boarding; allowing students to a room with students of each gender in nearly every room on campus.
