Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a private research university in Worcester, Massachusetts, focuses on instruction and research technical arts and applied sciences.

Founded in 1865 in Worcester, WPI was one of the United States' first engineering and technology universities, and now has 14 academic departments with more than 50 graduate and undergraduate courses in science, engineering, technology, management, the social sciences, and humanities and arts, leading to bachelor, master and PhD. During the 2012-13 season, Basketball Men was ranked second in the nation in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III and had their best start ever, going unbeaten in their first 22 games. On February 24, 2013, WPI beat Springfield College in overtime to win the NEWMAC Championship and secured a spot in the 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament.
