Amberton University

Amberton is a private university that embraces the philosophy of Christian evangelicals, is located in Garland, Texas, in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex from the United States. The main campus adjacent to Interstate 635. Schools began as part of the Abilene Christian University as a campus extension from 1971 to 1982, and was originally located in Mesquite, Texas, moved to Garland in 1974. Plans for separation into an independent institution began when the school received accreditation from the Southern Association of colleges and Schools in 1981, and became known as Amber University in 1982, with "tons" added to the name in 2001. A branch campus opened in Frisco, Texas in 2006.

Amberton University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS); one of the six regional accrediting organizations recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The agency accredits more than 13,000 public and private educational institutions ranging from preschool to college level in the Southern United States.

While the school upholds Christian philosophy, promising students complete freedom of conscience; there are certain doctrinal beliefs or formulation to be admitted to study there or to pass.

Amberton aimed at "non-traditional student", ie students who are above the age of 21.
